A Good Portrait Session

I got a chance to work on another portrait today. Very much a "working the lighter values on top of the dark values" sort of painting. I'm pretty sure I've said this recently, but there is something wonderful about putting some time into repetitive practice on a line of thinking. Every time I do one of these I "get it" a bit more. I think It gets back to that thing where there's a big difference between learning something and knowing something. The knowing comes from doing. And only doing really cements the learning and the knowing together.

I'm slowly getting there.
