A Painted Lily Sketch
In painting class, I’m having the students do four painted sketches using the four foundational elements of painting: drawing, value, color and edges. And I just got done with a slightly longer painting that I’ve been working on for the past few weeks in class, so I decided I’d do the exercise too. I started this one today. I think this will be the “color” sketch, which is to say, the painting where I focus on color. I also did a quick sketch of the same lilys earlier in the day, to try out the new Blackwing colored pencils Hannah and I got over the weekend. They seem quite nice.
