A Walk in the Woods

Yesterday, Hannah and I went for a walk in the woods near where we live. I snapped a few photos while we were meandering, and got started on a small oil painting. I really liked the bright warm colors in the background, and the cool grey colors of the foliage in the foreground. Right now the painting doesn’t show that so well currently, but I have this theory that a painting can start one of two ways - very colorful, and let the colors grey down the longer I work on the painting, or very grey, with pops of color added at the end. This painting seems to require the former. I’m gonna try to finish it up tomorrow. I’ve not done an interior woodland scene quite like this before, but I’ve got a good feeling about this so far. I guess we’ll see what tomorrow’s sessions brings.
