A Walk in the Woods, Take 2

To be clear, I’m not at all unhappy with yesterday’s attempt at a path through the woods. And I had every intention of finishing the painting up today. But in yesterday’s communiqué, I wrote about the two different ways of approaching color in a painting - more of a working theory than a definite statement of fact. And I’ve approached paintings in both hypothetical ways before. But I got to thinking about it last night after I wrote about it. So instead of finishing the first painting like I said I was going to today, I did a second version, starting out with greys and browns, and building up to stronger, bolder colors where necessary. The effective opposite of yesterday’s painting.

I like this one too. I’ll need to finish up the first one, but I think this one might be done. Getting a lot of the general problem-solving done the first time made this the second version go way faster. Anyways, I’ll leave you with some detail shots.
