Color Charts Day 2

Color Charts Day 2

I got through the second blue chart today. All that's left is green. I'm not really sure what to say about this besides that.

I guess I could talk about paint application. With the color charts, it's ideal to get as close to a perfect, homogeneous mix as possible. That's a lot harder to do with a brush - bits of different pigments get stuck in the bristles and sometimes mix unevenly. So at the advice of one of my favorite artists (Richard Schmid) when talking about color charts, I use a palette knife to mix and apply the colors. Applying paint with a palette knife is a somewhat awkward action - at least in comparison to using brush. It takes practice to use a palette knife well, so this is a two-birds-one-stone storta situation. I get to learn my colors a bit better and get better with a palette knife.
