Color study Pt. 2
I actually managed to get back to this study today, instead of moving on to something new and more exciting as a result. And as forecasted yesterday, another session of fine-tuning really got this sketch looking a lot better. This a lesson I’m continually having to re-learn. When something doesn’t look good after the first session, but the drawing and color/value are ok, it probably just requires more time spent working on it. The trouble comes when I lose steam after I fail to get something that really sings within the first session. Getting myself to come back to the painting and work a bit more at it feels so bad. But if I can manage to do it, the results are usually pretty decent.
