From the Sauna Door
Here's another one from The U.P. It's been pointed out to me that I enjoy working doors as a compositional device into paintings. They're so good at framing a subject. I like this one for the half landscape/half interior that it presents. Rought woods and cloth rugs and towels inside, along with a gorgeous cast light through a window that can't be seen on the right, and a lush green landscape out the open door. I'm not sure that there's anything particularly special about this painting, but it is such a vibe, and the light effect is so nice (to me, obviously) that I just couldn't help but put it in the show. I think it may be one of my favorite watercolor paintings that I've ever painted.
