Go Big While at Home
I took a bike ride yesterday afternoon to scope out some of the flowers currently in bloom all over. It must just be the week for lillies - seems like every one of them is in bloom this week. I’ve been jonesing to paint a bigger painting, and after that bike ride I had a whole bunch of reference. So decided to start a big painting today, just for funsies. It’s a 40”x30”, approximately. It’ll be fun to see how long this one takes. It’ll mostly sit over tomorrow, as I have portrait class tomorrow evening, but I’ll be back at this one for sure on Thursday. So far, I’m liking the start.

The painting on the easel, artist for scale. And the reference. I’ve changed the orientation, as I wanted a tall portrait oriented painting, and have pulled out a few clusters of lilies to accommodate the slimmer composition.
