Golden Grass
We passed one of my favorite fields in the are on our way to St. Joe for the maker's market today. I love seeing how the different seasons change the scene. It's far enough along in the summer that all the grass is turning golden-brown. I love the extra bit of warmth that adds to the scene. It roughly separates the painting into a blue band of sky on top, green band of trees across the middle, and yellow/brown band of golden grrass on bottom, all tied together by the vertical hatching marks of the brush. It was a fun little sketch to put together right before bed. I wasn't sure how I was going to like it, but I may try it as an oil painting sometime soon.
