Green Tree Portrait
Goodness do I love a good tree! I know I say this quite often, but It's genuinely always true... Unpopular opinion, I know, but the ents are quite possibly one of the best sections of the Lord of the Rings books. There's just nothing quite like a good gnarled weathered tree. And they really do have so much personality. It's easy to see how a fellow tree lover like JRRT might have only had to push a little further to turn that character in trees into actual literary personalities. One of my favorite things about drawing trees is really trying to suss out the unique characteristics of a tree I'm drawing, and turn it into more of a portrait of the tree. And the tree in question had so much moss just completely covering it, that it looks more green than grey or brown in my reference photo. So I decided a green pencil was definitely the way to go for this one. It wasn't the same shade of green, but I rather like the way my drawing turned out.
