Hannah & Alva

I got the first layer of paint down on the compositional drawing of Hannah and Alva from yesterday. I’m doing this one a bit smaller than I’ve ordinarily done these - it’s a 12”x16” painting. I remember reading somewhere that the smaller the painting is, the more you can get away with pushing your colors brighter and more saturated, and I have this image in my head of this being a really colorful painting. So smaller made more sense to me today.
