Hannah's Irises

Hannah's Irises

This one is probably one of the oldest paintings I'm putting in the show. A few summers ago, Hannah and I discovered a place on the local college campus where they were cultivating hundreds of irises. We'd stop by every few days to see how they were doing. On a day off, Hannah asked me if I'd try to pain the purple irises for her. So I got my watercolor kit together, hopped on my bike and cycled over to the iris field. I stood out in the hot 90+ degree sun for an hour or so, trying to paint these irises. The sunburn wasn't super fun, but it went away, and left me with this painting.
