I'm Just A Tangle In These Trampled Weeds

I should probably talk about the composition of this painting, but I mostly just want to talk about what I titled the painting. So I'm gonna do that instead. This painting is of a bit of the scene from the painting "From the Sauna Door", from my grandfather's house. When I painted this, I thought of a phrase from one of my favorite musicians - Kristian Matsson, of The Tallest Man on Earth. Technically his lyric is "I'm just a tangle in this trampled wheat", but I like trampled weeds a bit better, so I modified it for this painting's title. It also vaguely references Andrew Wyeth's "Trodden Weed" this way. My grandfather's house and the property have been in the family for a hundred years, give or take, and I love the metaphor of this being a place that I sort of came from, in a line of others from my mom's family - a "tangle" in the "trampled weeds" of this place and the family that's lived there.
