Irises
On our walk this morning, I saw my first Irises of the spring. That's not to say that they haven't been around already this year, but these are the first that I've consciously clocked. It's been a long time since I've tried to paint irises - I remember doing a watercolor about a decade ago, but that's the last time I remember trying. I do love sketching flowers, though. And every little sketch helps me learn how to do better next time.
I also worked on another sketch of the Peonies - this time at the stage they're at right now out in the garden. I took the photo yesterday. I love how upright they are right now. I know they'll droop as the peony heads grow bigger and weight the stalks down. But I'm loving watching them this year. I'm gonna try to keep an eye on them, and see how they evolve this spring.
