Landscape Composition Sketch
I've been doing a lot of portrait practice recently, so I mostly took the day off today, since I kinda got through the big portrait thing at The Box Factory last night. But I did snap a few photos while we were out today getting groceries. There's a particular part of our drive that's mostly just fields and a few pretty big strings of power lines. I love that horizontal/vertical tension that happens between the both of them, and the power substation on the right hand side helps tell a bit of a story too, I think. Traditional farmland vs. power management and transmission. The power lines and rows of crops make for some nice leading lines too, and then the clouds receding in the sky aid in the sense of depth I think. I'm not sure if I'll actually turn this into a painting, but I do enjoy doing these little studies to see what the efficacy of an idea is.
