Lights at Dusk
This painting is of my grandfather's house, silhouetting the sunset, with a few lights on inside. I like this painting primarily for the sense of light it gives. That was my primary goal when creating the painting. I love how restricting most of the light values in a painting will really make the few that you do use "pop". It was also really fun to experiment with a dark green glaze over the bottom half of the painting. I had painted all the grass too light to get the light effect I wanted, and thought to try a glaze to darken everything below the horizon instead of trying to re-paint the whole thing. It turned out pretty nice, and really adds some depth to the lower half of the painting in person.
