Lily Sketch

Today was the first day that I've been home long enough to do some painting in what seems like quite a while. So I took advantage of it, and did this quick lily sketch. Perhaps it's because I haven't had time to paint in a while, but this was super fun to work on! And while it's nowhere near what I'd consider finished, it has been incredibly smooth to paint so far. It felt like I was "in flow" for nearly all of it, and I love the lose brushwork as it stands right now. I did a bit of a test before starting this piece, and toned the canvas with an off-white beige color a few days ago, thinking it might be nice not to have that incredibly bright white to have to fight against, and I must stay, it worked better than I could have hoped. Hopefully I'll be able to find time to work on it again soon. It might be fun to try to bring this one to more of a finish.
