Little by Little
I'm doing what I tell my students to do with this one - slowly sneak up on it when you're unsure of how to proceed. This painting has been a very slow rolling project. Ten Minutes a day a few days a week. But, following another bit of advice that I often give, if you just keep working on the next-most obvious thing to do in the painting, eventually the "right" parts of the painting will stack up, and tell you how to do the bits you haven't been sure about.
It's been a while since I've really worked on a watercolor, so it makes sense that this one might take a while to get right. I'm really hoping that after this one is done, the speed comes back, and I can knock out a few more. That being said, trying to get the process right matters a whole lot more than how fast that process progresses. Slow and steady generally yields better results than fast and frantic to get it done.
Here's hoping this is one of those times!
