Low-key a High-key Painting

Low-key a High-key Painting

On our way home from getting groceries we took one of my favorite routes - especia lly in the spring. The apple trees along this stretch of road bloomed last week, but I got a picture of them at the time, so I figured I'd do a small quick sketch of it. I love all the bright colors that a sunshine-y spring day provides, so I figured I'd make this a nice high-key painting I love how there's really only a few spots down the center of the painting that have any dark values. The rest are all quite light values and colors.

Almost everything is middle-value or higher. Just a few darker values along the tree-line of trees and buildings.
Here's the crappy photo I took from the car that I used as a reference for this painting. Much creative license was taken when making the painting, obviously.
