Maple and Finishing up a Floral Sketch

Maple and Finishing up a Floral Sketch

We were invited to a friends house this evening to meet their new pup, Maple. I took a picture of her laying down next to a bench, and started a quick sketch of her. Then she got up and moved to her dog bed, right in line-of-sight. so I finished up the first sketch, and switched to drawing Maple from life for the second one. She was a good pup, and didn’t move much in her snoozing. I was able to get a pretty good sketch worked up in about 15 minutes. A great time all around.

I also had a chance to finish up the floral sketch I started Monday, though it took me a good hour to decide to finish it. I sat there trying to find anything else in my photo library that might be fun to paint a quick sketch of, and couldn’t seem to find anything that struck my fancy. So finally I just decided to get the floral sketch finished up, and wouldn’t you know it, the rest of the painting just flowed, and I finished it up without even feeling like I ruined it!
