New Portrait

I "officially" got started on a new portrait today. I've been kinda working on this in the background for a while -working on prep sketches and whatnot. So I began this in class today once I got all the talking and demo out of the way. I always tell my students that painting is just a series of correcting your mistakes, and I can see a lot of mistakes. I suppose that's a good thing - it's always harder when I don't know what to do next. In the original sketch I did, I drew the head too big. In this one, I think that I've elongated the body a bit. But it's better I figure that out now as opposed to once I've gotten a lot further along. I'll be getting back to this one on Thursday, so I have a short while to figure out what else I need to do before I get back to it. I am really looking forward to working on this one again on Thursday.
