Old Schoolhouse

Old Schoolhouse

There's this tiny little... village(?) that we we drive through fairly often a few minutes out of town. It's a bit out-of-the-way, but we often find a reason to drive through it on our way to wherever it is that we're headed. This tiny blip on the road is - and I'm not lying here - genuinely one of the most picturesque places I've ever seen. There are small, cute, brightly painted homes, rolling hills, and a wonderful brick schoolhouse from a century ago. I swear the whole place looks the the setting for a children's picture book. I half expect to see Peter Rabbit hop across the road every time we pass through, and for there to be a secret garden hidden down a back road. And possibly to see Rory and Loralai Gilmore crossing to the general store there (I know, we've strayed a bit from children's picture books, but the picturesque point still stands). Last month on one of our contrived detours through, the schoolhouse really stood out as we came to the four-way stop. So I snapped a few pictures of it with its new covering of snow. Now that our snow is largely melted, I figured I'd give this snowy scene a quick sketch. I'd eventually like to try painting this place, but seeing as I've never sketched it before, I figured maybe I should start there.
