Outdoor Portrait

I prevailed on Hannah to sit for me on Portrait Day this week. Then I pushed my luck and asked if I could paint her outside. We got some chairs and I grabbed my painting stuff and we set up in the garden. We each put in an airpod and listened to an audiobook while I painted her for an hour-and-a-half. A quick portrait sketch. It's not perfect by any means, but it was such a nice time with the breeze and the sunshine. It's still early enough in the spring that the mosquitos haven't shown themselves yet either, so we weren't pestered by any bugs either. One thing I really like about painting is that it helps me remember the moments I paint better than just living through them. Looking at this painting in the future, I'm sure I'll be able to remember a warm spring afternoon spent listening to a book in the fresh air with Hannah.
