Painted Starts
This first week of November, I’m going to be focusing on how I start paintings - basically trying to instill a habit of creating a good roadmap and base of color and drawing to help better complete paintings. I did this one while I was chatting with my sister on the phone, lost track of time, and moved from the start into the middle stages of the painting without properly focusing on my starting block-in. No worries, it’s not a bad start. I’ve also found that sometimes starting off poorly helps me better focus better on my goal for a given project going forward. So I try not to give myself too much grief for not initially hitting my desired goal, knowing that I’ll get there eventually, and often times going through the whole fail-try cycle helps cement lessons into my head better than just ”getting it right” to begin with.
Tomorrow is a new day for another attempt, and maybe I’ll do better then.
