Painting Foliage

I began this painting last week, focusing primarily on the figure and all the big and medium shapes. I saved all the fussy little shapes of the foliage for the “finishing” stage. Whereas I was a little uncertain on how to finish yesterday’s painting, I’m quite certain that finishing this one entails a whole lot of fiddly little leaves and assorted foliage. I wouldn’t say it’s quite finished yet, but it’s getting closer. The phrase “Once you’ve gotten 90% done, you only have another 90% to go” feels quite appropriate here.
