Path Over the Creek

Path Over the Creek

I was looking for an image from my reference file to paint, and I figured this time I’d do something that wasn’t a house (I’ve been painting a lot of houses the past few days). And I found a picture of Hannah and a few boards that form a bridge over a creek out in the woods on a walk that we go on quite often. This is a reasonably tough scene for me - there’s a lot of fiddly little green bits, and the bridge is really the only thing that brings some depth to the scene. But I took a chance and started on it, just to see if I could get it to work. Obviously it’s not quite finished - I’ll try to finish it up next week, when my focus is on finishing paintings - but I think it’s been a success so far.

I also did a bit of sketchbook work, messing around with a different composition for yesterday’s painting, as well as a quick study of the house itself.
