Peony Practice
Not much got done today. It’s been a super-fun-migraine sorta day. But I did this quick sketch of, you guessed it, more peonies - this time from a photo of a bouquet on Hannah’s desk at work. I think I’m slowly beginning to understand the structure of these flowers. It’s funny because you’d think that if your painting something that you only need to make it look like what you’re seeing in front of you. To a certain extent that’s true. But quite often I‘ve found that knowing a bit more about whatever I’m paiting helps me to actually understand what I’m seeng, which allows me to more accurately paint the thing.
