Pink Orchid

Today I took the orchid sketch from a few weeks back and did a color study of it. I've really been enjoying the new updated "gouache" brushes in procreate (I think I may have said that before). They look and feel really good.

I know I haven't been posting any real, physical paintings the past few weeks, and there is a good reason for that. In the weeks leading up to Christmas the spare room that I use as a studio gets filled with gifts for friends and family, and generally gets a bit mussed and untidy. It gets hard to do any work in there. Today we also moved out an old "desk" I constructed in there years ago, as well as some small old book shelves and other things that were cobbled together along that wall. We moved a larger bookshelf/cabinet in there to replace it, and generally trashed the house with all the re-organizing and stuff. We got most of the house back in order, and the studio does look bit better, but it's still got some more work to be done. I'm hoping to get it squared away in the first half of this week, and I can get back to working on some oil paintings.
