Portrait Class

I got back to portrait class after three weeks. It was a decent portrait session. The hat was fun, and the likeness is reasonably there. It was nice to paint a portrait again. It felt like some of the things that I've been focusing on this past year finally stated becoming automatic, to the point where I could start seeing new things in the portrait to try for. I love this part of the skill acquisition climb. The process feels easy, you start to see more. Soon though, I'll start only seeing things that I haven't before, and not noticing how much better I am consistently. I'll start to doubt my abilities, feel like the whole process is a fight, and once I've internalized what about all the new things I'm seeing and not properly capturing I'll figure out how to incorporate that into my practice. Rinse. Repeat.

But hey, we're in the fun part right now. So I'm gonna enjoy it.
