Portrait of Jack

I made it to portrait class this evening, and our model was one of the usual participants trying out modeling. I was pretty excited because any time I get to paint an older person (usually an older gentleman) who has dressed for the occasion, I usually have the opportunity to push the value composition of the painting. My experience has been that the white collared shirt, paired with a darker jacket or over-coat makes a really lovely framing for the face. In this case, there was a nice black hat to push the framing even further. Jack liked the portrait enough that I sold it to him at the end of the night. Overall it was a good session!
