Portrait Prep

I’m hoping to work on a few portraits this next month. I had gotten started working on the sketch for this a few months ago, so I thought maybe I should re-acquaint myself with this particular image. I’d like to get started on the painting this week. I think after the likeness , I’m really going to try to nail the colors of this scene. This is from Kitchi-it’s-Kiki - a spring in The Upper Peninsula with a truly unique color. The green/blue of the perfectly clear water is pretty specific, and the red/brown pine needles carpeting the ground make a nice counterpoint. So I’m gonna be pretty careful with the colors on this one.
