Power Lines
This week I’m working on getting the “medium shapes” right in a painting. The first week of November was Starts - washes and big shapes put in the right place. Week two was a quick re-shoring-up of my drawing chops - getting the right things in the right places. This week is about medium shapes - what happens after the big shapes and colors are in, and the drawing is at it’s most important.

For this one, the big shapes are the sky and the field, and the grey wash behind them, the medium shapes are the dark-green tree line that separates them and the subtle(er) divisions within the clouds and sky, and the small shapes are the power poles and lines, as well as the few silhouetted bare trees. Next week will be more about the small shapes and finishing touches, so I wasn’t too careful with them this time.
