Pre-Dawn Visitors

My alarm went off at 5:00 - possibly because I hate myself but mostly because I like the quiet stillness of the morning before the sunrise. I proved to be awake enough to not trip over the cat in the dark. He even let me pick him up - usually he's a squirrelly feisty running-away boy. So I'm wandering around the apartment in the dark, being very awake not tripping and holding the cat when I look out the window to see large dark shapes in the front yard. Deer! I plopped Alva in his window and as soon as one of the deer moved he was laser focused on them. The two of them started moving across the backyard again, and four more emerged from behind the bushes. I enjoyed the scene for a few minutes, and then thought to grab my phone and take a few photos. Apparently the night mode function works pretty well, because I got a few half decent photos of the deer in our snowy back yard.
