Red Barn Pt. 2

Red Barn Pt. 2

I got a color study painted out on top of yesterday's sketch. I tried for the primary color triad of blue sky, red barn, yellow sign that I talked about yesterday. Then all the "grey" colors are pushed a bit into one of those three families as well - just much more desaturated. There's "yellow" grass, "red"(brown) trees, and "blue" pavement. I hope this color strategy and terminology isn't too boring - it's genuinely one of my favorite parts of painting. Getting to figure out how a painting is going to piece together, whatever colors to use and how to incorporate them. And I promise - as nerdy as I've gotten here with all the color talk it's only half as bad as if I'd been talking about specific pigments and how they play with other pigments to build different color harmonies. I'll leave that for some other day, though, and let this be it for tonight.
