Red Barn Sketch

Red Barn Sketch

We went across the state to Ypsi today for Christmas eve with Hannah’s side of the family. If we’re not pressed for time, we like taking US 12 across the state instead of 94. It’s just a more pleasant drive, with better scenery. There were a bunch of things we passed that I just didn’t quite have the time or wherewithall to snap a photo of, but I got a few good pictures of old red barns near the end of our drive there. There’s nothing quite like the classic look of an old red barn. Especially at this time of year - the red just really stands out in a truly wonderful way. This is obviously not apparent in the compositional sketch, but every potential painting has to start out somewhere.

Just look at this beauty! The leading lines of the telephone poles are great as well. And the big blue sky, smaller red barn, and tiny yellow diamond sign make for a great study in primary colors!
