Six Months
Today is exactly six months since I started this 100 day make-a-thing-and-post-it-every-day exercise. I admit that I hadn’t expected this experiment to go this long, but I’ve grown to like it quite a bit. I’ve enjoyed the stipulation of making something - even a small something - each day and posting it. It’s produced a lot of work over the last six months. And I like the aspect of sharing it - both to my website and to the newsletter.
But I also know that daily emails can get to be a lot after a while. So I’m gonna try something new. Once weekly (probably Friday) I’m gonna do a weekly issue that covers the week’s stuff all at once, as well as adds a bit of additional stuff. I’m not entirely sure how I want to do this long-term. Do I want to run this as two different newsletters - the daily and the weekly newsletter, and let people subscribe to the one they prefer? That seems to be a good method. But currently when I attempt to do this, it seems that I’ve got to set one of the newsletters behind a paywall. Perhaps there’s a way of getting around this that I haven’t found yet. Or perhaps I’ll run the weekly newsletter off a different service. Substack or something. I’ll keep looking. But playing around with the newsletter settings, I did figure out a way to create a label on the back-end that would allow me to filter the newsletter to individual subscribers in this manner. It’s not a great work-around, but it is currently a work-around. So I’m gonna give it a try until I decide on a better option.
So for the time being, If you find that the daily newsletter comes a bit too often and would prefer more of a weekly round-up, please let me know by replying to this email. I’ll add that tag and see that you only get the newsletter once-weekly (probably on Friday). I totally understand that - inbox fatigue can definitely be a thing. And if you’re happy receiving an email every evening with me grumbling about some drawing or painting problem, or less-often being quite happy about the day’s results that’s cool too.
Either way thanks for your interest in what I’m doing! I really appreciate it, and am enjoying sharing my drawings and paintings with you.
