Snowy Corn Rows
I’m thinking about winter scenes that I could be painting this winter. This one is from a photo I snapped during last week’s snowy errand-running. I love the way the snow collects along the corn-rows. It creates such a fun linear composition. Winter scenes can also be a fun exercise in color: either you try to find the color hidden away, or you lean into the greys and go for a more subtle color scheme. A lot of it comes down to the difference between a clear day (a bit more color) and an overcast day, where it’s a much grey-er scene. The white snow picks up and reflects the colors surrounding it. It’s always a fun learning exercise in color science.
