Snowy Fields
My favorite part about a snowy Michigan winter is that it brings a linearity to the landscape. Trees loose their leaves, and all the lines of the trunks and branches are visible. Snow fills the fields, and the cut corn-stalks show the lines the seed-planter followed the spring before are visible. Even the demarcation lines between fields are more visible. The muted greens are fun to paint as well.
Several weeks ago I busted out some nice linen I bout probably a decade ago to try out again. It's been a while since I've used an oil-primed (specialized for oil painting only) linen. It's also been several slight changes to my working methods over the past few years, so I wanted to try out my current working method on the linen. It went really well! I got through the first 90% in under an hour, I think. So I'm letting it dry for a few days before I get the last 10% finished on Thursday. Loving it!

Some fun details. The pallet knife application of the white paint in the middle picture is just delicious.
