
Something Else!
The part of my brain that tries to get me to do rational things and finish things that I‘ve started counseled me to work more on the lily painting today - that would be a good idea - work on a thing you’ve already started. But the ”something new and exciting chaos fairy” part of me told me to start a new painting, mostly because I wanted to try out something slightly different with a color wash at the start of the painting. So as I’m sure you can already guess, I did the new thing. The lily painting is still on the big easel, in sight, and I’ll probably get back to it for a while tomorrow. But this was fun to start. It’s a view of a run-down barn and grape vineyards from the yard of some friends of ours. You may have seen another picture that I did of roughly this scene from a few weeks ago, executed with watercolor pencils. I’m gonna let this one dry over the next few days, and do another pass near the end of the week, when I’ve grown disaffected with the same lily painting day after day. But tomorrow, I’ll get back to the lily painting. Maybe. Unless something more fun comes roaring into my brain and makes the chaos fairy chase that…
