Sunset Over Sunset Hill Park, Seattle, WA

This one is, I think, the only non-Michigan painting. It's from a trip to Washington state that we took a few years ago to visit a bunch of old friends who had moved away from the area. One particular night, some friends took us to this park in Seattle that overlooks the sound, right as the sun was setting and all the sailboats were headed back into the harbor. I was particularly taken with the visible currents in the water, as exposed by the raking sunset light, and the sailboats all hurriedly trying to beat the darkness to the docks. I took some photos and worked on a digital sketch of the scene the very next day, followed by this painting shortly after we returned home. I chose to include this painting mostly just because I, personally, really like it - and it's never been accepted into anything I've entered it into. So I figured - "It's my show, I can put it on a wall if I want to!". So there you have it - the last painting for my show, and the only non-Michigan in subject-matter, included purely because I really love it and wanted to share it with you all.
