The (Missing) Red Barn

The (Missing) Red Barn

I decided to skip out on finishing up the last painting for a bit (I'll get back to it soon, I swear!). I just couldn't help myself. I wanted to get started on this painting. New is fun, and all that.

Now for a rant that I'm quite certain I've ranted previously. I was a bit disappointed to find that despite all my attempts at painting something that doesn't look like me, it stubbornly remained my work. I re-experienced the epiphany that my "style" is a good bit out of my control. Painting, when I manage to do it at a high level, is done subconsciously and almost automatically. I sat, thinking about all this for a bit before pulling out my notebook and writing:

Even I don't know how to paint like me...

Anyways, I've got a ways to go on this one, but I'm looking forward to getting that red barn in during the next painting session.
