The Oak Came First This Time

I spent some time this evening, along with a few other artist friends, drawing people's portraits for The Child Advocacy center's charity event. It was a lot of fun, getting to chat with people as they came over to have portraits drawn. At one point while the meal and auction were happening things slowed down, and I got to do a quick watercolor sketch of the river (the venue was this awesome place called The Boardwalk along the St. Joe River). I'd parked myself right under this big, beautiful old oak tree right at the river's edge, at one point I had to stop and do a quick sketch of a branch of oak leaves - I've been vaguely fascinated with oak leaves recently, so the chance to do a quick sketch from life was awesome. It wasn't till I got home and tried to come up with a silly/clever title for this that I realized that I don't remember seeing any acorns on the branch I sketched. Maybe it's too early for them? Or too late? At any rate, here's my quick sketch of oak leaves, mostly because all the other paintings I did tonight didn't come home with me, and I needed something to post to the website tonight.
