This is not a Painting

I finally got myself to start painting again today. I guess I just need a bit of time to look through a bunch of art books for inspiration. So I got into a new painting, and it's going really well. Only problem is I didn't remember to take a picture of it. So Here's a quick sketch I made of the same scene this evening after dinner. I'm not sure whether or not I'm gonna put my own shadow into the finished painting, though there is a bit of a precedent for it in the works of past painters. I think it'll come down to how I feel at the end of the painting.
