U.P. Sunrise

U.P. Sunrise

This one started out with a sketch in the sketchbook, as I’m trying to develop a habit of daily sketchbook work on top of just daily art-making now that the initial habit has somewhat been formed. I like using the sketchbook sketches to map out major shapes more than anything. From there I took a picture of the sketchbook page and imported it into Procreate to add some color and ”brushwork” over top of the sketch. I’ve used this workflow a fair bit these past few months, and I certainly prefer it to doing the whole sketch from start to finish digitally. There’s just something about starting analogue for me, I guess. Anyways, I really liked the orangey-pinks right above the distant tree-line in this scene, and that was my primary focus in this color study.
