Violas Sketch

I had such big plans yesterday, testing out some ideas and oil painting techniques at portrait class, and then my stupid tired body had me fall asleep. So today I decided to do a viola sketch. I’m trying to do a bit more of a colorful wash for the background. Oftentimes (with the exception of my first forest path interior painting) my background washes are much grey-er/brown-er. I’ve found that a lot of times if I’m trying to integrate a new thing into my practice, it helps to do so at home focusing on that new thing very specifically, and eliminating as many other wild variables as possible. I’m liking where this sketch is going. Hopefully I’m not lying to you when I say that I’m gonna try and finish this one tomorrow.
