Whorls and Swirls
I've got one more summer painting to post, but I've got a bit of work to do on the last one, and I haven't had time to do the work yet. So We're moving on to some Upper Peninsula paintings (they're almost all summer paintings anyways). This one is a painting of Hannah on Lake Superior. But really, it's a study in blue. I think my favorite thing about this painting is the mirror image of the clouds in the sky reflected in the ripples of water below. the dark water on the horizon at left offset by the beak of land on the right is also quite nice. And lastly, I really like how Hannah's placement in the painting sorta breaks the compositional ideal. She should probably be on the right third of the painting. But the weird composition keeps it feeling like more of a snapshot.
Ok, I'll stop singing it's praises and leave you be now.
